Day on the Ridge Memorial Day with Kings of Chaos
In the heart of the garlic-scented fields of Gilroy lies a musical oasis where the magic of rock and roll comes alive! Two legendary and generous hosts, Brenda and Shawn Chizanskos, have conjured up a spot on their private estate where every year a killer concert goes down to raise funds for St. Joseph’s Family Center, a Gilroy-based nonprofit that provides food, basic needs and other resources for local underserved residents. This time around, music aficionados from far and wide made the pilgrimage to witness a mind-blowing collaboration of artists belting out epic tunes in the name of a righteous cause.
Tribute bands and rock gods alike took to the stage, set amidst a rad poolscape and surrounded by green lawns. Generous sponsors kept the crowd fueled with killer food and drinks, setting the scene for an unforgettable day. And let me tell ya, that stage was hotter than a jalapeño popper, ablaze with performances that set the crowd’s hearts on fire.
The enchanting Lauren Monroe, alongside the one and only Rick Allen from Def Leppard, unleashed a soulful symphony that transformed the stage into a sonic inferno. Then came You Should Be Dancing, paying righteous homage to the Bee Gees with falsettos that soared higher than a bald eagle with glamour that shimmered like a diamond in the sky.
Neverland took the stage next, dishing out a smorgasbord of rock, country, and R&B covers with all the swagger of true rock royalty. As the winner of a signed Guns N’ Roses drumhead was crowned, the vibes escalated to cosmic levels with a show-stopping performance by the Kings of Chaos, sending the whole shindig careening into the stratosphere! The stage was set on fire as Orianthi, a top female guitarist who’s jammed with legends like Alice Cooper and Michael Jackson, blew our minds with her killer vocals and face-melting shredding! Matt Sorum, the drumming maestro from Guns N’ Roses, The Cult, and Velvet Revolver, pounded out beats so fierce they could make your heart skip a beat.
Brent Woods, of Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders and Vince Neil fame, teamed up with James Lomenzo from Megadeth to lay down some electrifying string harmonies that shook us to our core. Then, the one and only Gilby Clarke from Guns N’ Roses took center stage, belting out a rendition of “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” that left us all in awe.
The original Queen of Rock herself, Lita Ford from The Runaways, showed us why she’s a force to be reckoned with, while Robin Zander from Cheap Trick had the whole crowd singing along to his iconic tunes. And let’s not forget Sebastian Bach, the powerhouse behind Skid Row, who brought down the house with his dynamic stage presence and killer hits.
As the night sky took over, all these rock icons joined forces for an epic jam session that set the stage ablaze, leaving us with memories to last a lifetime.
Over $101, 000 was raised but most of all the Day on the Ridge team, sponsors and performers created a memory that will last forever.
